Remarks from September 2006

Eldon Raley pointed me to an article by Michael Strong at Tech Central Station.  If Wal-Mart is running sweat shops in China, apparently the peasants there love them.  Strong says that Wal-Mart "might well be single-handedly responsible for bringing about 38,000 people out of poverty in China each month."  He says that rural people can earn at Wal-Mart factories more than twice what they can on a farm. Although a huge improvement for them, it is still not very good compared to our standard of living.  But, how would you like to have your income doubled?  All we hear from the liberals is how bad Wal-Mart is.  It doesn't seem so bad for some people.
