David Remnick, editor of The New Yorker, was on Morning Joe this morning talking about his new book. It's about the rise of Barack Obama. Remnick talked about how Obama found his "racial identity" after growing up in a white family and attending an almost totally white school. This reminded me of a statement that I used to hear back in the 50s and 60s: "That boy needs to be put in his place." Remnick seems to be saying that after Obama grew up and moved to the continental US he finally realized his skin was dark and started to find his place.

How would this observation play if it was made by a Tea Partier instead of the editor of The New Yorker? From my perspective the "intellectual elite" are more racist than the Tea Partiers.

What's wrong with being the "Party of No" when yes is the wrong answer?

If you intend to discredit a movement by infiltrating that movement and acting stupidly, would you advertise that intention widely? No? Well, that is exactly what Jason Levin, an Oregon middle school teacher, did. He put up a website and granted television interviews to solicit support for his campaign to discredit the Tea Party movement by showing up at its rallies carrying signs inciting racism and violence.

So, is Levin that stupid or is he actually an undercover Tea Partier trying to lend credence to the idea that the bad players at the rallies are outsiders?

Writing in the Wall Street Journal about the problems on our border with Mexico Peggy Noonan said this:

Our national establishments deliberately allow the crisis to grow and fester, ignoring public unrest and amusing themselves by damning anyone's attempt to deal with the problem they fear to address. Why does the federal government do this? Because so many within it are stupid and unimaginative and don't trust the American people. Which of course the American people have noticed. (emphasis mine)

You go girl!
