President Obama on our mission in Afghanistan: "What we're looking to do is difficult, very difficult, but it's a fairly modest goal." That is, we're working very hard and sacrificing lives there to accomplish very little.
Investor's Business Daily asks: Will Washington's Failures Lead To Second American Revolution?
I heard President Obama using a driving analogy to tell us how we should vote in November. He said, "When you want to go forward you put the shift lever in 'D' and when you want to go backward you put it in 'R'. " I say the Republicans should pick up on that. When "forward" is nationalized health-care, government takeover of auto manufacturing, government takeover of the financial sector, and out-of-control spending, it is time that we put it in 'R' and back up a bit. I won't hesitate to choose reverse when forward will take me over a cliff.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is proof that you don't have to be very bright to become a billionaire.
From an article on the planned construction of a mosque near Ground Zero in NYC: "New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has forcefully defended the project as a symbol of America’s religious tolerance." Fundamentalist Christians should launch a campaign to build a huge church next door to the mosque. Then we will see how devoted Bloomberg is to promoting religious tolerance.
Federal Judge Vaughn Walker said in overturning the gay marriage ban in California: "Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license." I don't know of any state or locality in this country that can lawfully deny a gay or lesbian a marriage license -- when they, like everyone else, are applying to marry a person of the opposite sex.
When you consider that Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are the three most powerful people in our government, it's easy to understand why our country continues to decline. I acknowledge that the Bush Administration helped to set this up. But we picked the wrong people to put us back on the right track. We need to cut government spending in half very quickly if we are to survive.
I'm beginning to think that I might be a racist. When I see a black person on one of the television news shows I presume that he or she is there to charge someone with racism.
The Obama Administration is moving quietly on another front to expand government's control of our lives. Under the "Great Outdoors Initiative" they are meeting with environmental groups to lay plans for acquiring millions of acres of both public and private land. Their intent is to essentially ban people from this land.
"There is a small segment of the left that simply hates America. There is no other way to describe it. These hard-core leftists do not respect America’s traditions or institutions, so they are comrades-in-arms with any force that seeks to undermine or insult those institutions and they rush to stand in opposition to anything that smacks of patriotism or national pride." --Joseph C.
