Fox News is reporting that artificial meat grown in vats may eventually become an alternative to real meat. Have these scientists not heard of Spam? It's been around for about 70 years.
When speaking to a room full of Muslims Obama said that he supported their right to build the Ground Zero Mosque and seemed to support their decision to exercise that right despite all the public opposition. In backing off that position the next day he essentially said that the backlash from his statement to the Muslims was because his words were just misunderstood. Again it is our fault, not his.
Mr President, we do have a failure to communicate here, but the responsibility for getting it right is yours, not ours. When you have something to communicate it's your job to say it so we can understand it. If you don't, you have failed. Take a note: We're not as dumb as you think we are.
What if the government were in charge of providing our toothpaste? Would you have about 50 types and flavors to choose from? I don't really know why we need that many choices but companies wouldn't be making them if people weren't buying them. So, I don't think people would be satisfied with the maybe five choices the government would provide. But, like it or not, we're moving toward government run health care which will also result in limited choices.

Eugene Robinson wrote in the Washington Post on President Obama's Winning Streak. His next four columns could be on Lenin's winning streak, Stalin's winning streak, Hitler's winning streak and Mao's winning streak. He seems to overlook the fact that a win is usually accompanied by a loss. Winning might be everything to some but others consider the cost of winning. A real leader is in the latter group.
As practiced today liberalism essentially means not believing in anything, except believing in not believing in anything. Conservatism means holding to a set of well-tested beliefs.
The issue is not whether the "progressives" are making progress, but what they are progressing toward.
The Obama administration likes to talk about the number of jobs "created or saved" by the $814 billion dollar stimulus bill passed last year. With the economy still declining, that's like a deadbeat husband and father telling his wife and kids that they would be in a lot worse shape if they didn't have him. It's possible that both Obama and the deadbeat might be right, but we would all like to give something else a try.
One of those unintended consequences? Several county and city government-run hospitals are shutting down or selling out to for-profit companies because of the coming impact of ObamaCare. Already barely staying afloat they are realizing they won't be able to afford the cost of the new requirements that ObamaCare will impose. This trend is expected to continue. There are about a thousand such hospitals across the country. The fed is taking over.
